Alice & Scott

Congratulations to Alice & Scott who had a delightful wedding in the courtyard at Old Parliament House. It was a very emotional ceremony with tears and laughter in equal mix. Alice & Scott wanted photos at Dunrossil Drive but unfortunately despite repeated attempts we couldn't get a free spot as other photographers were using it all afternoon. So we gave up and used the bike path in Woden instead and got some lovely and different results. Then we went up to Mt.Stromlo where although the weather was quite cold & stormy it again made for a beautiful moody backdrop to the photos. We finished up at the Hyatt before heading off to the reception at the Lobby.

2010 International Aperture Awards

The judging has just concluded for this years awards and I'm pleased to report that every image I entered received at least a Bronze merit award. In fact I am the proud new owner of 7 of these Silver Awards of Excellence. I also placed 9th overall in the wedding category and was the only photographer to have 4 images in the top 50 (I may have missed out on the grand prize but at least I'm consistent!)

Kim & Tim Family Portraits

You may recognise Kim & Tim as ex-wedding clients of mine. This is the second lot of family photos we have done for them since their new baby girl was born. These were done here at the Realm and I particularly love the results we got on this shoot so I thought I'd share especially since I haven't posted any portraits for a while......

First Class Chauffeured Cars

We are pleased to announce that after a long established & productive relationship with First Class Chauffeured Cars we are their new preferred photography studio. We have been good friends for years (you may have seen our big panorama image that Dennis has in his office) but we thought we'd make it official! Recently we did a photo shoot of their cars for their new website which is coming soon. Here are a few of the images you will see....

Not really being a car expert I enlisted the help of Jamie Carl Photography who shoots for some car magazines and has much more car lighting knowhow than I do. Thanks for your help Jamie, couldn't have done it without you!

Lately I've been attracted to the branches of trees against the sky for some reason. Perhaps there's something peaceful & meditative about looking up through trees..... I'm not sure what it is. But here is another tree shot from my recent trip to Sydney to see Kurt Elling at the Opera House.

Ricoh Cameras Australia very kindly lent me their new GR Digital III camera to have a play around with so I took it to Sydney with me instead of my normal heavy SLR's. So far I'm very impressed with what this little compact can do. Unlike most digicams this one is high end quality: metal case instead of plastic, prime lens instead of zoom and a beautiful fast (f/1.9) 28mm at that. Not to mention it's amazing macro capabilities with a 1cm focusing distance. This picture was taken with it and I'll post some more in weeks to come.

Marijana & Anthony

Marijana & Anthony's wedding was terrific fun. They and their bridal party were very lively and easy to photograph. After a traditional wedding at St.Christopher's we did a fairly untraditional photo shoot - bar hopping from Knightsbridge in Braddon to Mavi at the Realm Hotel, with a brief stop at Civic Square on the way. I also took them to one of my new favourite spots at the National Gallery, though I think we must have been having too much fun there as we got evicted by security for being to noisy! We finished up at Manuka Oval for the reception were everyone danced the night away.....

This is going to be another mammoth post sorry. Natalie & Vince's wedding was a huge day and we travelled all over the country from their friends Olive grove farm in Narrabundah to Mt.Stromlo. They were married at St.Christopher's in Manuka and had their reception at the Hellenic Club. The whole bridal party were great to photograph and lots of fun to work with. That is when I could get the boys attention - they were so preoccupied with watching their mates do burnouts on their Harley's all day! I think there was more money spent on burning rubber at this wedding than anything else.... I think we got some very interesting  & unique photos in what was the old chicken run at the farm, not your usual wedding photo location but I love the results. And so many great kids photos again - they were just gorgeous. Natalie & Vince, congratulations &  I hope you love all these photos as much as I do!
